Chaos in Cyberspace

Recaps

So, for those getting confused by current events, a quick recap.

The Pro-Fun Hoe-Down, thanks to a bizarre interface with Compassion, has ended up on Gallifrey at the time of Rassilon's Presidency.

Eris, Goddess of Discord, and the Chocolate Snark are trapped in the Eighth Doctor's disturbing and Lovecraftian TARDIS.

The Time Lords are about to do something rather nasty to Earth's timelines which will change the Universe's history. And for some reason, it also seems to be an important part of the Doctor's timeline...

Miss Capriuni, our hostess, has a) revealed she knows Compassion's true identity, and b) got recognised by a Gallifreyan captain.

Thomas Kelly is fiddling about with a potentially dangerous artifact.

Somebody's screamed.

The Seventh Doctor is nowhere in sight.

The First, Third, Sixth and Eighth Doctors are arguing over a plan of action.

The Fourth is explaining (or trying to explain) the situation to Tom Baker.

The Second and Fifth are calming a group of frightened lurkers.

_And_ they have to go and download the codes to unlock the safety lock on the Pro-Fun TARDIS.

All in all, it's a rather messy day for our heroes.

Imran Inayat

Thirteen questions (one for each of the Doctors. :)) :

What _is_ the Seventh Doctor up to?

How does Galifrejan know our hostess' Earth identity?

How does our hostess know that Compassion is a TARDIS?

Why _are_ Eris and the Snark inside Compassion?

Is there any way they could at least change the radio?

Is Galifrejan fooled by all this for even one moment?

What _is_ a Bookworm, anyways?

Can the Fourth Doctor and Tom Baker avoid getting wiped from existence by Rassilon?

What does Galifrejan want our heroes to see?

What _is_ that Earth temporal nexus the Time Lords are so fascinated by?

Why was that artifact simultaneously a weapon _and_ a Wombles album?

How in Omega's name are they going to get the Pro-Fun TARDIS off Gallifrey?

And just what _is_ it with the Doctor's timelines?

All, some, or none of these questions may be answered in the next installment of our story... =)

Thirteen answers:

  1. What _is_ the Seventh Doctor up to?
It *almost* *definately* involves Evil From The Dawn Of Time”.
It's something involving the Matrix, the Hand of Omega, and the Eye of Harmony, according to Imran (although he seems to have decided that it was really only the Hand of Omega after all).

  2. How does Galifrejan know our hostess' Earth identity?
    Now that *would* be telling...

  3. How does our hostess know that Compassion is a TARDIS?
My own TARDIS and I are telepathically linked (that's how I can control the thing without "all those knobs"). It was *she* who recognized Compassion. I was only aware of a gut feeling, and made a good guess, which was confirmed by Compassion's reaction... besides, she came in with the eighth Doctor...

  4. Why _are_ Eris and the Snark inside Compassion?
    Eris is up to something.

  5. Is there any way they could at least change the radio?
    Probably, but nobody did.

  6. Is Galifrejan fooled by all this for even one moment?
    Now that *would* be telling...

  7. What _is_ a Bookworm, anyways?
The Bookworm was a character who appeared in the story in some of Imran’s posts, who got edited out because he never actually did anything.

  8. Can the Fourth Doctor and Tom Baker avoid getting wiped from existence by Rassilon?
The question is moot, because that fourth Doctor and that Tom Baker got wiped from existence (or returned to their own timelines, if you prefer) when Eris corrected the first timeline split.

  9. What does Galifrejan want our heroes to see?
Well, if you keep spelling me name wrong, I'm not sure if you'll get to see...
(In the absence of a more definite answer, we must accept Imran’s word that it’s the ultimate Banana Daiquiri.)

  10. What _is_ that Earth temporal nexus the Time Lords are so fascinated by?
The discovery of Cyberspace, or the creation of Cyberspace, depending on the point in the story at which one asks. (Since Cyberspace is defined by the perceptions of those who enter it from the real world, it might be argued that the two amount to the same thing).

  11. Why was that artifact simultaneously a weapon _and_ a Wombles album?
Have you never listened to a Wombles Album?”

  12. How in Omega's name are they going to get the Pro-Fun TARDIS off Gallifrey?
By undoing the safety lock with the Hand of Omega. (“in Omega’s name”? Yes, funny about that…)

  13. And just what _is_ it with the Doctor's timelines?
    Eris is up to something.

Is it just me, or has the timeline fractured again?

Let me see: The partyers have split up and are doing different things.

Imran and Alryssa have double touched a link to planet Aldo-wa-hic, in search of Ana. There, they find a little blue duck, who agrees to help.

Meanwhile, our hostess has brought back a link to the land of the Snark, finding some potentially helpful information that might help them fight the Valeyard.

Also meanwhile, Thomas Kelly has teamed up with the Eighth Doctor, to modify the Time-Space-Visualizer, overriding the lock on our hostess's barn TARDIS and bringing the Seventh to Planet Rad-wah.

At the moment that our hostess's TARDIS materializes, Alryssa, Imran and Donald the little blue duck return to Rad-wah, just as Mappy and the Doctor are arriving....

Alryssa, back on Aldo-wa-hic, craves a pint and leads Imran and Donald into "This Time Round".

Yes... I think we've split again.

Some questions to be answered (not necessarily in this order):

1) How did Imran and crew get to Gallifrey (was there another Time Rift?)

2) How did Fitz get into TTR?

3) Why were the Sixth and Eighth attacking Alryssa? Was it simply a pie-throwing fight, or was there more to it?

4) Who is Alden? (A book companion/character? I haven't read the books) And where did he come from?

5) What did Imran realize?

6) What *is* that artifact, and what is the safe way to handle it?

7) Will the Valeyard and the Sixth Doctor ever meet face to face again, to finally finish what the Trial started?

8) Will Eris emerge from Compassion in all Her Divine Glory and smite the evil ones with Her power?

9) Is Snarky a Boojum, and if he meets the Valeyard, will the Valeyard disappear?

Some answers:

  1. How did Imran and crew get to Gallifrey (was there another Time Rift?)
My guess, after carefully studying the situation, is that “Gallifrey” was a typo. In my transcript, the reference has been corrected.

  2. How did Fitz get into TTR?
Alternative continuity version <probaby the one who appears in the Crossover Internet Adventures>.

  3. Why were the Sixth and Eighth attacking Alryssa? Was it simply a pie-throwing fight, or was there more to it?
Just a pie-throwing fight. The attack squad's actually out to save the adwc Alryssa, Imran and the duck, and then proceed to sort out whatever's going on. We're all doomed...

  4. Who is Alden? (A book companion/character? I haven't read the books) And where did he come from?
Mel Bush fan. *The* Mel Bush fan, willing and able to stand up for her. despite the slagging off she gets on Rad-waah. He's got a website devoted to her. It's pretty good.
Wherever Mel is, Alden will be there (well, he would be if he could afford the fare from New Zealand...
    (The website is http://www.tetrap.com/drwho/mel/.)

  5. What did Imran realize?
<cudgels brain for answer> Damn. Anybody got a mnemonuc crystal?
(With the aid of a mnemonic crystal, Imran later recalled that “it occured to me... if all four of us pool our abilities, we could travel back in time to the very beginning of Cyberspace, and prevent the Valeyard writing Cyberspace out of existence.”)

  6. What *is* that artifact, and what is the safe way to handle it?
I think I might be able to answer that...well, half of it, anywayWith music.”
(see the story for more information)

  7. Will the Valeyard and the Sixth Doctor ever meet face to face again, to finally finish what the Trial started?
    Yes, and no.

  8. Will Eris emerge from Compassion in all Her Divine Glory and smite the evil ones with Her power?
Or will she simply offer everyone a tableful of custard pies, and tell them to get on with it?
    Depends which ending you read.

  9. Is Snarky a Boojum, and if he meets the Valeyard, will the Valeyard disappear?
    Depends which ending you read.

Alryssa's history is fracturing to the point of absurdity; she's hit Imran's adwc incarnation because the adwc Imran's forgotten how we're going to solve all this; her Rad-waah incarnation's contemplating hitting Fitz with a trifle; Thomas has sidled up to Eighth over Compassion's sudden Alryssa impersonation; Compassion now looks like Grace; Eighth and Sixth Doctors have organised an attack squad; Fitz's TTR version is cowering in TTR; Imran's adwc incarnation is about to get drunk, and has finally remembered his plan; the Doctors are preparing a 'jam session' against the artfact; Alryssa's explained to Ana why we need her; our assault squad may, or may not be, on Gallifrey, and it's made up of people even Imran believes would find it hard-pressed to save someone from a paper bag. And the real Lord Gallifijan's caught in a time-loop on Gallifrey, as he gestures to a pedastal in the middle of a massive area.

On top of that, Imran's referring to himself in the third person. This is disturbing.

You _don't_ want to know what happens next. But we're going to find out anyway...
